Peer Education Conference

The State Peer Officer Team welcomes all of Nebraska FCCLA to join us as we work to empower leaders by day and save communities by night!

This winter, the Peer Education Conference will be held on Monday, February 27 at the Kearney Ramada Inn and Conference Center. We invite all Nebraska FCCLA members to come and join us to learn more about FCCLA. This year, the conference is focusing on the National Programs of STOP the Violence, Career Connection, and FACTS. The conference will give members and advisers an overview of what peer education is all about, as well as to equip you with ideas and resources to implement in your own chapter.

The keynote note speaker is Lloyd Roberts from  Nebraska Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Impact Family. Their message is about the effects that driving under the influence can have on yourself and others. For our mini sessions, we have invited Jill Goedeken and Love Adelyn. Jill’s session is about college and career readiness, and Love Adelyn will be talking about their foundation and different ways to give back to families across Nebraska.

CEDARS Home for Children is our  outreach project for the conference this year! CEDARS works to help children who are facing seemingly insurmountable odds. Their mission is to help children who have been abused, neglected, and homeless achieve safety, stability, and enduring family relationships. A list of possible items to donate can be found on the Nebraska FCCLA website.

Also, the State Peer Officer Team has designed t-shirts for the conference this year! Shirts are $10 and feature the conference logo. Orders can be made while completing registration, and they will be delivered at the conference.

Make sure that your members and chapter apply for the various SPOT awards and scholarship! We have the new Career Connection Challenge and the SPOT Scholarship for members, and SPOT Outreach Project and Capture the Action awards. All applications can be found on the Nebraska FCCLA website at http://nebraskafccla.org/events/peer-education-conference/ .

Be sure to come and join the State Officer Team on Sunday, February 26 for the FCCLA Knowledge Survivor Competition! The competition will be from 7-9 p.m. The winning team will receive half of all registrations to be donated to a non-profit of their choice.

Registration must be completed by 2 p.m. on February 15. We look forward to seeing you all there!
