NLC Recap

It has been three weeks since the 2016 FCCLA National Leadership Conference in San Diego, California concluded. Hopefully everyone had a wonderful time at this year’s NLC and had safe travels returning home! The 2016 NLC was the largest ever! San Diego was beautiful and everyone was very welcoming! I know all of you enjoyed the great sessions, exhibits, and all the other opportunities given at the National Leadership Conference! Any time I get the chance to develop my leadership skills, I take that opportunity and I hope so do many of you!

We learned a lot of new things this year and excited to bring them back to Nebraska. The State Officer Team attended the State Officer Training sessions and worked with State Officers from other states to develop our skills to lead Nebraska FCCLA.

Congratulations to all STAR Competitors! Nebraska came home with 100 gold medals, 54 silver medals, and 4 bronze. We had 8 events finish TOP in the NATION!

As we begin the 2016-2017 school year, remember that every member serves a purpose. Whether you’re a chapter officer, member of the SPOT, a knowledge bowl participant, a future National Officer Candidate, STAR Events competitor, or a new member, you serve a purpose and you are tasked with spreading the word of FCCLA and inviting others to join us and share what you have learned at the 2016 National Leadership Conference. Let’s continue to grow so next year will be the new largest conference! Good luck this upcoming school year and in all your endeavors. I can’t wait to see you all again and I look forward to the coming year for Nebraska FCCLA!
