Hey Nebraska FCCLA! The State Leadership Conference is right around the corner! The State Officer Team can’t wait to see everyone in Lincoln, Nebraska from April second to the fourth.
If you’re competing in a STAR (Student Taking Action with Recognition) Event, congratulations! While preparing for state, make sure to practice your speech, dust off your materials, and review your district rubrics comments. Even though you possibly did well at your District Competition, that doesn’t mean you’ll be the best at the state level, so make sure to practice. Good luck to all of the STAR competitors!
Now let’s not forget that STAR is not the only thing you can compete in at state conference.
Different competitive events are going on at SLC. For example the FCCLA/LifeSmarts Knowledge Bowl or the FCS Knowledge Tests. Get to studying because those competitions and tests are coming up soon.
Additionally, there are endless opportunities at the State Leadership Conference. Take advantage of the opportunity fair, the Spotlight on Projects event, tours, and service projects being offered, and the Monday night entertainment. There are also sessions going on about leadership, entrepreneurship, and even panels focused on the four career pathways that FCCLA focuses on. To read more about the endless opportunities at SLC, visit the Nebraska FCCLA website and press on the State Leadership Conference tab which is under the Program of Work tab.
Finally, I would like to highlight a few new things at SLC. We will be having our very first Fashion Show during the Recognition Session on Monday night. We can’t wait to see the talented and unique designs of our members. Another new thing during SLC is districts having time to get together on Tuesday. Take advantage of networking with members from close chapters and getting recognized as the outstanding district at SLC. Finally, our service project this year will be donations to the Food Bank of Lincoln. The Food Bank of Lincoln serves areas throughout Nebraska. We encourage you to bring as many non-perishable goods as you can.
I can’t wait to see everyone at State Leadership Conference!
