Mind-Bending Careers Conference with
Nebraska HOSA and Nebraska FCCLA

Thanks to generous funding from BHECN – Behavioral Health Education Centers of Nebraska and the University of Nebraska Medical Center, we are proud to offer the joint Mind-Bending Careers Conference with Nebraska HOSA! This conference will introduce students to career opportunities in counseling, mental and behavioral health as well as inform students of the risks associated with risky health choices.

The conference will be an asynchronous virtual experience. Each of the learn shops will be pre-recorded and available for your use beginning on January 14, 2021. The only live portion will be the Kick-Off to Mind Bending Careers, which will be from 1:30-2:30pm CST on January 14. This session will include a welcome from our partners at BHECN & UNK as well as the keynote address ‘To Vape or Not to Vape – It’s a Life-Changing Decision’ by Dr. Lisa Fuchs from Nebraska Methodist College. The kick-off will be recorded and uploaded to the conference platform after the conclusion of the live event.

Parental Online Privacy Consent Form: This form must be signed by a parent/guardian for every student that’s participating in the conference. Chapter advisers can confirm that they have collected the signed forms for their students by completing this verification form.

Registration: Limited to Juniors and Seniors (with exceptions for Sophomores with strong interest in behavioral health). Email addresses for all participants must be provided with registration in order to provide students access to the virtual conference platform!

Registration for FCCLA Chapters – $25.00 per Chapter

Registration for non-FCCLA Chapters and FCS Teachers or School Counselors – $50.00 per FCS Program (open to FCS teachers and non-FCCLA Chapter members)

Registration will close on Friday, January 8 at 5pm CST!

Dress Code: Nebraska FCCLA Dress Code is strongly encouraged for this event. 

Mind-Bending Careers Objectives:

  • Students will be introduced to careers in behavioral health and mental health.
  • Students will be able to articulate the impact of personal health choices on behavioral health and mental health.

All sessions will be taught by Behavioral Health Professionals. Participating teachers/advisers will receive classroom-ready materials.
