What You Need to Know About Literature for Littles

Submitted by Samuel Coble, VP of Competitive Events

Service projects are an amazing way to help man an impact on the people in your community.  This year the State Officer Team came up with a fun project that allows you to interact with children, teach from the National Programs, and serve your community.  The idea is simple and open to your chapter’s interpretation and creative process. Your chapter will use children’s books to teach primary education students important life skills that align with National Programs! Here are the simple steps you can follow to ensure you have the perfect community service event! Nebraska FCCLA can’t wait to see what amazing services you accomplish with this service project.

  1. Create a list of eight children’s books, one to match each of FCCLA’s National Programs. Each book and national program match will involve a project that the kids can do while reading a book.
  2. Present these books with the projects to primary school children. Make sure to document your presentation through photos, or thank you notes.
  3. Then submit the number of elementary students that read the book and do the matching project. Do this by documenting your presentations to classes using photos, thank you notes, etc.
  4. The form to submit your project can be found using this link: https://forms.gle/6dYX2GWJcLh5HEH56
