Submitted by Taylor Svoboda, Secretary

This time of the year, for some reason, always gets a little more stressful. It happens for all of us, and it’s something that should definitely be addressed. Do what’s right for you and try a couple of these tips to decompress and restart your mind after a stressful day.

  1. Listen To Your Favorite Music
It seems like an obvious thing to do, to crank up some feel-good music and let the stress slip away. Oftentimes though we forget to take a moment and just appreciate the way our favorite songs make us feel. It can make all the difference in your attitude and turn your day around.
  1. Stretch or do Yoga
It is scientifically proven that yoga and stretching not only help the body but also the mind. Whether you are very active or not, these activities will help calm you down and refocus your mind. If yoga is too strenuous, try a couple simple stretches every other hour. There are many ways to incorporate this into your everyday activities without spending lots of time on it.
  1. Unplug the Electronics!
This tip may seem impossible. Almost everything we do is on a phone, computer, or some other device. It is crucial to take time off of these things to be able to refocus and destress. Start your morning by taking ten minutes of no screen time. Find other ways to fill that time that are beneficial to you.
  1. Make a list
A great way to decompress is to make a list of all the things that are causing your stress. Next to each thing, write down why it is important and how you plan on achieving it. This is a great way to feel better prepared to take on these items. If your stress isn’t coming from somewhere you can control, try writing a list of all the things in your life that you are grateful for. Next to each item elaborate on what your life would be like without it.
